Klassik-Start-UP

The HIDALGO began in a small, passionate circle of friends. In order to perform new, unusual concert formats, we initially set up a small non-profit association. As HIDALGO continued to grow, we founded the non-profit HIDALGO gGmbH. Our artistic formats have been created here since 2020.

When new projects start, our small core team brings in artists, cultural managers and technicians from our network. We produce for our own festival and as co-producers for other festivals and organizers. Our work is divided internally into six task areas.

Art

Art

Our artistic department is our innovation engine: this is where ideas pile up, sometimes stored in a drawer for months and suddenly transformed into intoxicating productions after passionate discussion. For such live moments, our team exchanges ideas with the artists in our network, draws inspiration from other exciting projects – and sometimes invites them to perform as our guests. The team defines the artistic framework for the festival, within which the program develops in continuous coordination. The new HIDALGO collective is also organized here.

Event & Production

Event & Production

All the threads come together in our project management and logistics departments: Artists, pianos and venues are booked, schedules are drawn up, rehearsals are organized and hall plans are designed. Budget plans have to be checked, participants and helpers allocated and caterers ordered. Our technical team is responsible for safety at the events, while in our productions it sets up stages and installations, brings light into the darkness and maintains good sound. Depending on requirements, we coordinate the front and back of house – and optimize what can be done better next time in follow-up discussions with the whole team.

Marketing

Marketing

Our marketing department tells the HIDALGO story – fresh, close and to the point. The communications team plans campaigns, produces photo shoots, shoots videos, designs banners and posters, writes flyers and brochures and sends newsletters to various target and demand groups. Together with our PR agency, it informs the press, manages interviews, places advertisements and maintains our online channels. Accompanying event formats are also integrated into the overall program. Ticketing manages ticket sales, issues free social tickets to demand groups and plans the relationship with the audience.

Booking & Fundraising

Booking & Fundraising

In the area of booking, we promote the work of our collective at other theaters and festivals: We then perform our finished productions, but also completely new, exclusively developed formats, productions and installations for and with others. In the area of fundraising, we provide the funds to ensure that HIDALGO regularly sets off on new adventures. We talk to authorities, foundations and companies and manage the complex process from concept to project billing. We build long-term relationships with private donors that benefit everyone. We also sell advertisements and find good packages for our sponsors.

People & Culture

People & Culture

Our team comes together: Full-time employees and volunteers, professionals and students, passionate creatives and professionals from all trades. In People & Culture, we make sure that everyone is doing well and that we grow with the right minds and values. Here we bundle all tasks from recruiting and onboarding to team maintenance and offboarding. We look after the volunteer crew and are hosts for our artists. We see the many people in the HIDALGO cosmos as long-term partners. We are constantly developing our work culture and are the people to contact if problems arise.

Administration

Administration

In our HIDALGO office, appointments are coordinated, birthday cards are written and ingenious plans are made in the sunny courtyard. Our administration department in Munich’s Maxvorstadt district brings together all central services: it is responsible for finance, controlling and taxation, prepares accounts and processes internal orders. She manages insurance, contracts and legal matters, ensures documentation and manages our warehouse and archive. Thanks to our office-based IT infrastructure, we at HIDALGO have been working decentrally right from the start – but we are also happy to invite people to our office and meeting rooms.

In our team, we bring together professionals and volunteers from different areas.

We work with a network of cultural, university, event and business partners.

The HIDALGO Board of Trustees and its members support HIDALGO with their expertise and help to open doors.

Our patron is the Lied specialist and star baritone Christian Gerhaher.

Our projects are supported by numerous supporters & sponsors made possible.
