DANCE THE NORMAL MADNESS – HIDALGO Workshop
WORKSHOP AND DANCE PERFORMANCE
Chaos in the head, sky-high joy and first heartbreak, getting lost in the world and at the same time living intensely in it: the total and completely normal madness of young people who have to find their way somewhere between the pressure to perform and youthful recklessness, self-optimization and complete exuberance.
This intense life needs forms of expression – and a dance performance outside the norm, which can also be aimed in particular at pupils from schools with special challenges. In workshops, the young people develop and learn specially choreographed dances from the field of modern dance with a dance teacher. They take part in the stage technology and put on a dance performance.
Gustav Mahler provides the live soundtrack: the song cycle “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” tells the story of a wanderer, an unhappy lover with dreams and melancholy, who takes his life’s fate into his own hands. Songs from the cycle “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” set the trials and tribulations of falling in love to music.
The famous song “Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen” shows a personal confrontation with oneself and the world. For the young people’s dance performance, Mahler’s songs are alienated for a singer and piano with live electronics and underlaid with dance beats.
