ORPLID is a spatial sound installation inspired by the aesthetics of the trance and goa scene. It reflects experiences of flight from the world over time. Artists, hall and audience form a living work of art.
The name “Orplid” comes from the works of Eduard Mörike, some of which were set to music by Hugo Wolf. “Orplid” refers to a dream world that the poet and his friends imagined. Escape from the world, i.e. turning away from everyday life, was one of the central themes of the Romantic era. Today, this idea can be found in the contemporary underground scenes, among others.
ORPLID combines tradition and modernity, romantic song and abstract forms, classical music and black light aesthetics. Shrouded in darkness, fluorescent shapes and will-o’-the-wisps, the room is transformed into an enchanted dream world. At its best, ORPLID offers the possibility of deep, emotional contact. It is an individual art experience for everyone.
The cast corresponds to the usual artistic level of HIDALGO and its artist collective. The artists may vary depending on availability.
