Fine renaissance songs by Dowland meet snotty, rough chansons by Weill. The concert design, on the other hand, evokes the community between the audience and the musicians. Everyone can talk to each other via WhatsApp, openly or anonymously, with acquaintances or strangers. The stage becomes a confessional of failure and the foyer conversation is integrated into the art.
In HIDALGO Confessions (first performed as “Bahn-Salon”) we dissolve the boundaries between audience and stage. Together we will reflect on our own moments of failure and perhaps share them with others. The audience can send text messages to the stage or to other people in the auditorium via smartphone – without giving their names. The music provides a framework for pausing in these changing times and asking existential questions. Instead of the usual small talk, painful memories and fears can also be discussed. The connection with our actual lives gives the sometimes fragile, sometimes defiant songs by Dowland and Weill a special depth.
The cast corresponds to the usual artistic level of HIDALGO and its artist collective. The artists may vary depending on availability.
